what we offer.

Co-dependency

Co-dependency can look like: struggles with self-esteem; difficulties with boundaries; excessive controlling/pre-occupation/caretaking of others; people-pleasing; hidden sense of shame.  Co-dependency is a way we relate to those who are closest to us.  It has a seemingly harmless exterior but can bare a heavy weight on our overall well-being.  With clients with co-dependent tendencies, my hope is to discover the patterns, process the root cause of this pattern, and find a healthier way to connect in relationships.

Childhood Trauma

Childhood trauma can include, but not limited to: emotional neglect; abandonment; abuse; harsh environment; traumatizing event; attachment trauma; witnessing trauma.  What happened to us in our formative years shapes the person that we become as adults.  My goal is to help clients make connections with the present and the past and help address/process/heal the trauma that is affecting the present for a better quality of life.

Emotional Abuse

Unlike physical abuse, emotional/psychological/verbal abuse is difficult to label.  Am I experiencing a normal part of a difficult relationship or is this destructive and abusive?  My goal is to work together with clients to gain clarity about their relationship and identify what is really happening in a relationship and then journey together to heal, recover, and grow.

Adult ADHD

As a former school teacher, I know what ADHD looks like in a child.  Now as a therapist working with adults, I know what it looks like in an adult. Because of this, I offer a greater understanding of the whole journey of living with ADHD.  ADHD isn’t just a difficulty with focus and sitting still.  It is much more complex than that.  My goal is to work with clients to understand the implications of this diagnosis, how this is impacting their lives and together realize strengths and gain tools and coping strategies to address the struggles and stress of life.

Korean Language Counseling

Although my main language for counseling is English, I do offer counseling in Korean for those who prefer to receive services in Korean.  Please indicate this when you contact me for services.

Faith-Based Counseling

I provide services to an incredibly diverse group of clients who come from many different faith backgrounds.  All religious beliefs are warmly welcomed here.  But if faith and God are important to you, I can include that aspect into our sessions.  This may look like directly addressing an issue from a Christian perspective or a discussion of questioning or deconstruction of your faith.
